On Friday 25th May 2018, new European Union (EU) legislation called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect impacting all industries and organisations.

In preparation for the new regulation, from Monday 5th February 2018, we will be making some changes to our sales process:

Updated Privacy Notice

The customer Privacy Notice will be updated to ensure the content conforms to the new regulation and is easier to understand.

The notice will continue to form part of the Customer Confirmation document which has been updated and made available for you to download from our website.

When placing an application with us, it is your responsibility to ensure the client has been provided with the Customer Confirmation document at the start of the application process, and the client’s responsibility to share a copy with any absent parties.

Marketing Consents

Under the new GDPR rules, clients can no longer be opted-in to marketing automatically; explicit consent must be provided by the client.

When placing your client’s application using our online system, we do not currently ask you to specify the client’s marketing preferences, there will be no change to this process and we will ensure they are not automatically opted-in to any marketing activity.

If your client wishes to provide their marketing consents, they can do so by contacting Halifax directly on 03457 203040.
