Free energy performance certificate

After receiving the cashback, your client will be offered an optional free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for their home.

An energy performance certificate (EPC) will tell them how energy-efficient their home is, with a rating from A to G. They will also get a report telling them what they can do to make their home more energy-efficient. ​

Following their successful claim, your client will have three months to schedule the free assessment through their Green Living journey.

Your clients can use their own installers, but there are benefits to using the providers we’ve teamed up with.

Does my client qualify?

Your client will need to:

  • have a Halifax current account at point of claim 
  • complete an eligible home improvement within one year of completing their Halifax mortgage, further advance, or product transfer
  • upload their invoice to their Green Living journey and submit their claim.

  • To qualify for the Green Living Reward (we will call this the Reward), your client must:

    • Apply for a new Halifax mortgage, further advance or product transfer after 31 July  2024.
    • Have a Halifax or Bank of Scotland current account
    • Complete on their mortgage, additional borrowing, or new deal. 
    • Once they have completed, they’ll have a year to complete their eligible home improvement and submit a claim form along with their invoice. They can find this date in their Green Living journey.

    To redeem the free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) offer, your client must:​

    • Receive a successful claim confirmation in their Green Living journey.
    • Schedule an EPC assessment directly with our chosen supplier in their Green Living journey.
    • They’ll have three months following a successful claim to schedule the assessment. There’ll be an additional month window on top of this for the assessment to take place. ​

    The EPC assessment must be completed on the same property your client claimed the Green Living Reward on.

    Other important information

    Halifax isn’t responsible for the improvements carried out by your clients chosen supplier. Halifax releasing the funds to your client doesn’t guarantee the quality of work done by the supplier. It’s up to your client to make sure they're satisfied with any improvements carried out. Halifax can’t make any guarantee about the costs of the work needed, any savings that can be made, or the impact on your clients EPC rating. They're responsible for making their own decision.

    Customers will receive an email at offer stage with a link to the Green Living journey.

    They agree Halifax can contact them with reminders about the Reward and for research purposes.

    Halifax reserve the right to change or withdraw the Reward at any time.

    Customers can only receive a single cashback amount for one improvement within the year.
